Given the fact that it’s coming from the creative leads behind Persona 5, it’s no surprise that Atlus’ upcoming megaton RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio has turned as many heads as it is, and the company, too, seems to be positioning it as a major new franchise, one that it has said will stand alongside the likes of Persona and Shin Megami Tensei as its flagship IP.
In fact, the upcoming game isn’t the extent of what Atlus has planned for the new IP, according to known leaker @MbKKssTBhz5 on Twitter, who has accurately leaked Atlus-related announcements in the past, including Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona 3 Reload. As per the leaker, Atlus intends to “expand the Metaphor: ReFantazio IP in different ways”, and interestingly enough, one of those ways is going to be a spinoff that the company will work on in collaboration with Netflix Games.
Of course, with Metaphor: ReFantazio itself still a ways off from launch, it’s unlikely that we’ll be hearing about its Netflix spinoff in the near future (assuming that it does exist).
Metaphor: ReFantazio is due out this Fall for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Leaks have claimed that Atlus will also release the game for the rumoured Nintendo Switch 2.
There are plans to expand Metaphor: ReFantazio as a new IP in different ways. A Netflix game is part of this plan.
