EA Announces It Will Not Have A Press Conference For E3 This Year

Thank you EA, for having mercy on us all.

Technically, EA has not attended E3 officially for a few years now, choosing instead to do its own EA Play events which coincide with E3; these events have had their own showfloor spaces, as well as EA’s press conferences (which have been, almost without exception, awful). However, this year, EA has announced, in news that comes as mercy for all of us, that they will not do a press conference at all.

They will still do EA Play, mind you—but there won’t be a proper press conference. Instead, we will see “less talk and more play”, according to EA, focusing on hands on streams, content from the “most popular content creators in the world”, multiple live streams of games and behind the scenes content, and so on.

EA, then, joins Sony (and to an extent Nintendo, who only do pre-recorded Direct presentations) in not having a live E3 press conference this year (though Nintendo at least does streamed ones; EA and Sony won’t be doing those either). That said, unlike Sony, EA’s are always bad enough that this doesn’t come as a huge blow- to me anyway.
