Etrian Odyssey X

Atlus isn’t the kind of company that can just let a console die. They did it with the PS2 with Persona 4, with Persona 5 on the PS3 and now they’re helping keep the 3DS propped up with a new trailer for their dungeon crawler, Etrian Odyssey X. The title is a crossover of their previous games with their most popular characters, as well as the player’s own avatar.

The long running fantasy series has seen several entries on Nintendo’s aging handheld already, including the Persona 3 and 4 spin off, Persona Q, which was basically a skin on top of this series. Players proceed through the dungeons in first person, having to meticulously create their own map as they go.

The trailer is naturally in Japanese as the game is launching there in the next couple of months, leaving exact details out of our understanding, but it’s full of energy none the less and shows some of the battle system. The game is out August 2nd in Japan with a western launch to be announced. Check it out for yourself just below.
