Final Fantasy 16

Last week’s Japanese charts for physical software sales saw Final Fantasy 16 debuting in pole position with over 336,000 units sold. In its second week, as many would have expected, the game has seen quite a drop-off in numbers, landing in second place with oer 37,000 units sold after a 90% decline from the previous week’s sales, as revealed by Famitsu.

In the top spot this week is Spike Chunsoft’s adventure game Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, which has sold over 55,000 units on its debut. A number of other new releases are featured in the top 10 as well, including Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, which has sold over 8,000 units on the Nintendo Switch.

On the hardware side of things, the PS5 has seen its sales slashed by nearly half, with over 49,000 units sold over the course of the week (down from over 85,000 units the previous week). Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch has held strong with over 106,000 units sold.
