Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 16 received several new details courtesy of various previews and will have a demo two weeks before its launch in June. But while the game went gold in March, it won’t have a day one patch, like so many triple-A titles have nowadays.

Game Informer spoke to director Hiroshi Takai about the reasons. The latter said that he and Naoki Yoshida believe its final build is good to go, a sentiment echoed by the team. Takai also understood that not everyone would have internet access for downloading a big day-one patch.

Of course, there could be updates after launch, and the development team is testing daily for bugs. The current sentiment is to have the game work well at launch instead of relying on patches to fix major issues. Time will tell how this pans out.

Final Fantasy 16 launches on June 22nd for PS5. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
