GDC Awards Nominations Are Led By The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Horizon: Zero Dawn

As has been the case though all of the Holiday season.

As has been the trend this awards season, Nintendo’s superlative and seminal The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild leads award nominations for the Game Developer’s Conference Choice Awards for 2018, with a grand total of six nominations. It’s actually tied with fellow open world action RPG epic Horizon: Zero Dawn, which also racked up six nominations.

Breath of the Wild is nominated for audio design, best design, most innovative, best technology, best art design, and Game of the Year; Horizon gets best audio, best design, best narrative, best technology, best art, and Game of the Year.

You can check out the full list of nominees below, but you will see that it’s a pretty good showing overall; sadly, Persona 5 gets the snub in most cases (though it does get some honorable mentions, at the very least). The GDC Awards ceremony will take place on March 31, 2018. You should try catching up on all the nominees until then.
