Though Konami has been completely inactive where premium AAA development is concerned since 2018’s ill-fated Metal Gear Survive, multiple leaks in recent months have suggested that the Japanese company is on the verge of re-entering that space, with some of its biggest properties allegedly eyeing revivals. Silent Hill has been pegged to make a comeback for some time now, with Konami and Bloober Team’s partnership heating up those rumours even further, but other major Konami properties like Metal Gear and Castlevania are also allegedly making comebacks.

Now, another report by VGC’s Andy Robinson makes similar claims, dropping potential details on these projects and their development. As per the report, following its restructuring, Konami is now looking to bring back some of its biggest gaming properties. A new Castlevania game, for instance, is allegedly in development internally at Konami itself, with local external studios providing support. The game is said to be a “reimagining” of the series.

As for Metal Gear, a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater – not the first game, contrary to earlier rumours – is also in the works, with Singapore-based Virtuos claimed to be leading development on the project. The game is supposedly in early development, and it seems Konami has plans to release remasters of Metal Gear Solid games in preparation of the remake’s release. Interestingly enough, Konami also recently released the Castlevania Advance Collection for PC and consoles.

Multiple previous reports have claimed that Konami is licensing out the Metal Gear property. Earlier this year, Solid Snake/Big Boss voice actor David Hayter said that based on what he had heard, the rumours of a remake were probably accurate. Some reports claimed that Bluepoint Games were working on Metal GearFollowing their recent acquisition by PlayStation, it was confirmed that their next project will be an original game, though another rumour claims that they’re also working on a remake of a “beloved” game.

VGC’s report claims that Konami will be revealing several of its games at major shows throughout 2022. Earlier this year, while announcing its absence from E3 2021, Konami said that it was “in deep development of a number of key projects.” Not long afterward, the company also suggested that it would continue to outsource its properties to external developers.
