Monster Hunter World’s momentum is seemingly unstoppable – the console title shipped 7.9 million units worldwide according to Capcom’s financial results for the 2017 fiscal year ending March 31st 2018. The company revealed that this was its “highest level of profitability” in history thanks to Monster Hunter World.

The publisher also noted that the game “significantly contributed” to its financial performance along with bringing international recognition. Though actual sales for the game have yet to be confirmed, the large shipment numbers indicate a strong demand for the franchise overall.

In other financial news, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard has sold 5.1 million units since launch. Monster Hunter XX shipped 1.8 million units on the 3DS while Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers was deemed to have had strong performance. Sales for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite are still “soft” though it managed to ship 1 million units.

With numerous updates, event quests and the upcoming PC version, one has to wonder what Capcom’s next step will be for Monster Hunter World. E3 2018 could provide some answers so stay tuned in the meantime.
