Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Will Seemingly Not Include Alternate Skins

In a break from tradition for the franchise, it seems Mortal Kombat 1's DLC packs won't include alternate skins, a decision that's receiving plenty of backlash from the community.

Mortal Kombat 1 - Omni-Man

NetherRealm Studios and WB Games recently debuted gameplay footage for Mortal Kombat 1’s first DLC character, Invincible’s Omni-Man, though it seems the DLC will be omitting something that past DLC additions to Mortal Kombat games have not.

Mortal Kombat fans on social media have pointed out the lack of any mention of alternate skins in the recent Omni-Man trailer, which is significant because traditionally, Mortal Kombat DLC trailers in the past have always ended with details regarding alternate skins that go hand-in-hand with the incoming character.

Though NetherRealm Studios and WB Games haven’t explicitly confirmed that the upcoming DLC won’t come with alternate skins, that’s certainly what many in the community are taking away from the trailer.

Omni-Man will be added to Mortal Kombat 1 on November 16, and will be accompanied by Kameo fighter Tremor. Future additions include Quan-Chi and DC’s Peacemaker this Winter, followed by Ermac and The Boys’ Homelander in Spring 2024, and Takeda Takahashi in Summer 2024. Release dates for DLC Kameo fighters Ferra, Khameleon, and Mavado haven’t been confirmed.
