Though Premium Edition owners received early access last week, NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1 is available for everyone else today. The Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions have been well-received, while the PC version reportedly has issues. However, the Nintendo Switch has garnered criticism for its visuals, glitches and performance issues.

That’s sadly not all, as Warner Bros. Games Support confirmed that only the introduction for Invasions is available at launch for Switch users. It’s to ensure the “best possible experience,” with the “full breadth” of Season 1 content going live in the coming weeks. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause Switch players and are working to make this update as quickly as possible.”

Not only are Switch players paying full price ($69.99) for underwhelming production values, but they’re also not getting the same experience as other platforms. Shiver Entertainment, which also worked on Mortal Kombat 11, developed the port with Saber Interactive’s assistance. Thus far, there’s no word on updates to improve its visuals (outside of “general bug fixes” in the day one patch).
