After a PS5 version of the title was mentioned in a list of TGS titles, speculation mounted that a PlayStaton port for the survival game would finally be announced.

Pocketpair’s survival sensation Palworld hasn’t landed on PlayStation even now, but speculation has been rife in recent days that that could change soon, courtesy o a PS5 version of the title being spotted on a list of games set to appear at Tokyo Game Show next week, which was published by Japan’s CESA.

Since then, however, it seems the CESA has updated said list. Spotted by a user on ResetEra, the unannounced supposed PS5 version of Palworld is no longer included in the aforementioned list. The title was seemingly removed from the list shortly after it was first discovered last week.

Whether that means the game was listed in error, or if Palworld is still coming to PS5 and the listing was removed because it was premature- that much remains to be seen. Pocketpair itself, however, has previously suggested that it intends to bring its game to PlayStation, so it wouldn’t be surprising if that does end up happening sooner rather than later.

In other Palworld-related news, earlier this week, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair for patent infringement, though Pocketpair says it will do everything to “ensure indie developers aren’t hindered from pursuing creative ideas.” Read more on that through here.

"At this moment, we are unaware of the specific patents we are accused of infringing upon, and we have not been notified of such details," the Japanese studio says.

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company recently announced that they had filed a lawsuit against Palworld developer Pocketpair for patent infringement, with the survival title’s abundant Pokemon-esque monster designs seemingly under fire, and Pocketpair has now issued an official response regarding the lawsuit.

In a statement, after acknowledging the lawsuit, Pocketpair says it is “unaware of the specific patents we are accused of infringing upon”, since it has “not been notified of such details”. Later in the statement, the studio remarks that having to dedicate “significant time” to the lawsuit rather than focusing on the game is “truly unfortunate”, but says that it will do its best to “ensure that indie game developers are not hindered or discouraged from pursuing their creative ideas.”

“Pocketpair is a small indie game company based in Tokyo. Our goal as a company has always been to create fun games,” Pocketpair’s official statement reads. “We will continue to pursue this goal because we know that our games bring joy to millions of gamers around the world. Palworld was a surprise success this year, both for gamers and for us. We were blown away by the amazing response to the game and have been working hard to make it even better for our fans. We will continue improving Palworld and strive to create a game that our fans can be proud of.

“It is truly unfortunate that we will be forced to allocate significant time to matters unrelated to game development due to this lawsuit. However, we will do our utmost for our fans, and to ensure that indie game developers are not hindered or discouraged from pursuing their creative ideas.

“We apologize to our fans and supporters for any worry or discomfort that this news has caused.”

Palworld is available in early access on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. Within roughly a month of its release, Pocketpair announced that it had crossed 25 million players across all platforms.

"This lawsuit seeks an injunction against infringement and compensation for damages on the grounds that Palworld infringes multiple patent rights," Nintendo says.

Palworld turned into an overnight revelation upon its early access launch earlier this year, and it’s fair to say that a lot of its popularity was down to the many similarities it shares with Pokemon. As a survival crafting game, from a gameplay perspective, those similarities are few and far between, but Palworld does heavily feature a large variety of monsters that can be fought against, caught and trained, used in battles, and what have you, and a lot of these monsters have designs that bear more than a passing resemblance to Pokemon designs.

Instantly upon Palworld’s release, there were many who wondered if Nintendo and The Pokemon Company would be taking legal action against developer Pocketpair, not least because of how trigger happy they typically tend to be in that arena, though in July, Pocketpair stated that it had received no official complaints from either company on that front. That, it seems, has changed.

Nintendo has confirmed that it is suing Palworld developer Pocketpair for patent infringement, for which it is seeking injunction and compensation. A patent infringement lawsuit was filed against the developer jointly by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company in the Tokyo District Court earlier today, on September 18.

“This lawsuit seeks an injunction against infringement and compensation for damages on the grounds that Palworld, a game developed and released by the Defendant, infringes multiple patent rights,” Nintendo’s release reads.

“Nintendo will continue to take necessary actions against any infringement of its intellectual property rights including the Nintendo brand itself, to protect the intellectual properties it has worked hard to establish over the years.”

Palworld is currently available in early access on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. As of February, it had over 25 million players across all platforms. As per Pocketpair, the game was developed on a budget of $6.7 million, going on to make “tens of billions of yen” in profit. Read more on that through here.

"Palworld was never designed with that model in mind, and it would require too much work to adapt the game at this point," Pocketpair says.

Palworld developer Pocketpair has issued a statement in which it confirms that its survival game will not be switch to a live service or free-to-play model. In a recently published interview with ASCII.jp, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe stated that final decisions hadn’t yet been made whether Palworld would continue to operate as a paid title, but following concerns from fans in the wake of the interview over the game potentially adopting a live service model, Pocketpair has issued a statement on Twitter to assure that that will not happen.

“We are not changing our game’s business model, it will remain buy-to-play and not f2p or GaaS,” the developer writes.

As per Pocketpair, the aforementioned interview was “conducted several months ago”, and though the studio hadn’t decided at the time what the future of Palworld would be, it has, by now, “decided that the F2P/GaaS approach is not suitable for us.”

“Palworld was never designed with that model in mind, and it would require too much work to adapt the game at this point,” Pocketpair’s statement reads. “Additionally, we are very aware that this just isn’t what our players want, and we always put our players first.

“We are still considering skins and DLC for Palworld in future as a means to support development, but we will discuss this with you all again as we get closer to that point. For now, our priority remains making Palworld the best game possible.”

Palworld is currently available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. A PS5 version of the title could finally be announced at Tokyo Game Show later this month- read more on that through here.

A PS5 version of the survival title is mentioned in a list of games appearing at TGS, which was published by Japan's CESA.

Palworld has enjoyed large-scale success on PC and Xbox consoles since its release earlier in the year, and on no few occasions, many have wondered just when the survival title will be coming to other platforms as well. Though there have been some indications that the game could launch for PS5 soon, that hasn’t led to anything concrete so far- though that might change later this month.

Spotted by Gematsu on Twitter, a PS5 version of Palworld can be spotted on the list of games that will be present at Tokyo Game Show, which is scheduled for September 26-29. The list was published by Japan’s Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA).

As noted by Gematsu, the list is not necessarily a definitive one, and there’s the possibility that the game was listed for PS5 in error, but if not, it points to Pocketpair making an announcement regarding the game coming to Sony’s console soon.

Palworld is currently available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. In July, Palworld developer Pocketpair announced that it had established Palworld Entertainment, a joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) and Aniplex, to “develop the reach” of the IP, with a focus on “global licensing and merchandising activities”.
Summoned Pals also receive 25 percent less damage, while tomato and lettuce production efficiency on farms has been buffed.

A new update is available for Pocketpair’s Palworld, providing further adjustments and changes after the Sakurajima update. Meteorite and Supply Drop Intervals can now be adjusted in the world options, and Summoned Pals will now take 25 percent less damage (which doesn’t apply to your base Pals).

Other adjustments include Oil Rig enemies having less firepower, which should make it a smoother stronghold to run. Purchasing items from food merchants is now costlier, but tomato and lettuce production efficiency on farms has increased in exchange. You can also now buy meat, which is nice.

Various fixes are also available for Pal path-finding issues at one’s base, like getting stuck due to moved chests or when they can’t reach a repair kit. Random events like monster nests sprouting up should also no longer occur.

Check out the full patch notes below courtesy of the game’s official Twitter. Palworld is currently in early access for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.

The Pokemon Company previously said that it would "investigate and take appropriate measures to address any acts that infringe on intellectual property rights related to Pokémon."

As a survival crafting game, Palworld’s core gameplay loop has little in common with Pokemon, but with its monster taming and battling mechanics, as well as the names and designs of many of its monsters, the game has more than a little in common with the beloved property. On that front, in fact, it shares so many similarities with Pokemon that many have accused it of having plagiarized from the franchise.

In fact, shortly after Palworld came out and turned into an unexpected revelation, The Pokemon Company said it would “investigate and take appropriate measures to address any acts that infringe on intellectual property rights related to Pokémon“. According to Palworld developer Pocketpair, however, no official complaint has yet been filed.

Speaking to Game File, when asked about whether Pocketpair had received any commination from The Pokemon Company related to the matter, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe said, “Nothing at all. Nintendo and The Pokemon Company didn’t say anything to us. Of course I love Pokemon and respect it. I grew up with it, in my generation.”

Whether that means The Pokemon Company and Nintendo decided that there was no actual case of copyright and trademark infringement, or if the companies are yet to take action on a case that’s being worked on behind-the-scenes is anyone’s guess- though the former might seem more likely at this stage.

Interestingly enough, Mizobe recently also spoke about a potential Switch release for Palworld, saying that it would be difficult due to “technical reasons”. A PS5 version of the survival game, however, is seemingly being teased.

Palworld is currently available in early access on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. It recently saw the release of a major free update.

New items, weapons and builds are also available alongside the new Meteorite Event, in which players can capture an "unknown" new Pal.

Pocketpair’s biggest update for Palworld yet is now available for PC via Steam (with the Xbox version releasing “when it’s ready”). It adds a new island, Sakurajima; a new faction, The Moonflowers; and the Arena for PvP. There’s also a new Stronghold – the Oil Rig, which the Rayne Syndicate controls.

Crude Oil can also be extracted with the new Crude Oil Extractor building in “certain spots.” It’s used to make Plasteel for a higher tier of equipment and Palspheres. As for new items, there’s the Mysterious Accessory Box for an extra permanent accessory slot, Concentrated All-Purpose Pal Extract to increase a Pal’s rank, and Ring of Freight for more carrying capacity.

You can also use various Remedies for permanent increases to player stats (with the level cap raised to 55). If that weren’t enough, the new raid boss is Blazamut Ryu, touted as the “strongest Dragon Pal.” Of course, aside from all the new Pals in Sakurajima, an unknown Pal can also be procured via the new Meteorite Event.

Check out the full patch notes below. Palworld is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s also seemingly coming to PS5 at some point (though a Nintendo Switch version is looking less likely).

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe also dreams of a "true PvP mode" akin to Ark or Rust, with Arena considered "kind of an experiment."

Pocketpair’s Palworld is gearing up for the Sakurajima Update, which brings a new island with various biomes, new Pals and the Arena for PvP. However, the developer also recently teased a potential launch on PlayStation at some point. The question then arises: What about Nintendo Switch?

CEO Takuro Mizobe spoke to Game File about this, noting, “So maybe it’s hard to port to Switch just for technical reasons.” This is primarily due to the PC specifications being higher than that of Nintendo’s hardware. It’s not out of the question, but considering the challenges, it may not be the highest priority for the developer.

Mizobe also said that Arena is “kind of an experiment. My dream is to achieve a true PvP mode in Palworld. I want more of the Ark or Rust style.” How long it would take to achieve this remains to be seen, but having 32 players battling it out with their Pals is certainly ambitious.

In the meantime, Palworld’s Sakurajima Update arrives on June 27th for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. It’s increasing the level cap for players and Pals while adding a new Faction Leader. Players can also challenge previous leaders on Hard Mode for an added challenge. A new Raid Boss and the Oil Rig Stronghold also await. More peaceful players can look forward to new structures and revamped building mechanics.
