Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Closer To Metroid Than E3 Demo Implied, As Per Impressions

Apparently the E3 demo didn't paint the best picture.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order had its big coming out party at this year’s E3, and the overall reception was somewhat mixed. While the live demo that was shown as part of EA Play wasn’t bad, many were underwhelmed. However, interestingly, once people got their hands on it on the show floor, impressions changed. Apparently, the game we saw demoed isn’t quite the game we’ll be actually getting.

Several journalists who were at E3 have talked about their impressions of getting to play the full demo as well as talking with the game’s developers, and they say it’s much closer to a Metroid style game than anyone would expect. In the latest Giant Bomb podcast, The Giant Beastcast, they even say the game has several ways to tackle an area and you’re constantly getting new powers that allow you to explore once unreachable areas. They aren’t the ones, as several outlets from Kotaku to Waypoint have commented on just how open the game feels compared to constrained demo the public was shown.

Why EA and Respawn decided to show off the game like that is anyone’s guess. Even later at E3, the director of the game talked at a panel to flesh out things more. Maybe they felt that small slice was better suited to the casual mainstream for whatever reason. Either way, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will release on November 15th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
