Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been in the news a lot since its recent reveal. From its combat to its difficulty to even how much stealth factors into the gameplay (it doesn’t), the developers have spent a great deal of time talking about the upcoming action adventure title.

Recently, Chris Avellone, who served as a writer on the title, spoke with Wccftech about the experience of working on the game with Respawn, and was full of praises. Avellone reserved special praise for Stig Asmussen, director of the game (who previously directed God of War 3 as well), mentioning that he has “a solid vision” for what he wants the game to be, and that he’s able to communicate that vision with the team very well. He also praised Aaron Contreras, lead writer on Fallen Order, with whom he’s worked in the past on other projects as well.

“[It was] really good [working with Respawn],” said Avellone. “So the project director is Stig Asmussen from God of War 3, I’d never met Stig or worked with him before, but he has a really solid vision and even better, he’s able to communicate it. So he set a really good path for the project. And then also, I was familiar with their lead narrative designer on Fallen Order, Aaron Contreras. He was also one of the key developers on Mafia 3. And I always wanted a chance to work with them. So this was a chance to do that. And working with both of those guys was absolutely great.”

Avellone also praised LucasFilm, who he says had great inputs to give throughout the writing of the game. “Lucasfilm was really great with Fallen Order,” he said. “They had really good notes and reasons why they wanted changes. And the reasons why is important, because when you hear that, suddenly that answers a bunch of future questions down the road, we’re like; ‘Okay, well, we shouldn’t do that at all, because they’ve already indicated the reasons why that’s the case.'”

We also know for a fact that there was no pressure from the publisher to include or exclude anything in the game, so it definitely sounds like Respawn are making the game they want to make. We’ll find out how that turns out when Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 15.
