The last Star Wars game was also the first single player one in years and, despite some technical issues, it was mostly well received. Apparently, it was a very difficult game to get off the ground to make, but thankfully it ended up happening and came with plenty of fun characters and a classic Star Wars plot. One character was the adorable BD-1 and, believe it or not, actually had a motion actor…of sorts.

Tom Keegan, the Performance Director that oversaw Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, talked to VG24/7 about actor Gideon Emery and how he played the little droid in a unique way. He basically created a cardboard mock up version of BD-1 and used a nose flute for the noise.

“There’s an actor who’s brilliant at body, face, voice, incredible voice actor,” Keegan said. “He makes amazing sounds, and we had a cardboard mock-up of BD-1. He hand-puppeteered and had a nose flute on, and made the sounds for the conversation.”

It’s pretty fun little story to think about with a cardboard BD-1 pouncing around. Developer Respawn Entertainment is already working on another Star Wars game, so the droid may return soon. For now, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available to purchase on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
