Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s Combat System Resembles Sekiro

The franchises are closer than just the whole losing hands thing.

While Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order got its big showcase at E3, we’ve reported before that the live demo shown really didn’t do the best job in showing off what the game was really about. For whatever reason, EA and Respawn chose to show off a very linear section of the game despite it apparently having a more Metroid-inspired game design. Now we see that the combat, too, is more than it seems, and is pretty close to another acclaimed action game that came out earlier this year: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

In a deep dive on the combat, Game Informer noted how the combat system works. While we got bits and pieces of combat in the E3 demo, it was all so brief, we didn’t get a real chance to see what it was like. The guard system functions very similar to Sekiro in that it’s all about deflecting and parrying strikes when you are up against other melee users. Unlike Sekiro, you can actually deflect ranged attacks, since you’ll be up against all types of blasters, naturally. While it’s not exactly the same, and seems far more forgiving than the brutal Sekiro, it’s easy to see the parallels. You can check out the breakdown below.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will release November 15th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
