New gameplay previews and impressions have gone live for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, with publications (like Fextralife) playing three hours of a work-in-progress build. The sequel is out later this month but is shaping up well while offering much more than Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

For instance, the worlds are bigger, with the new planet Koboh offering a wide range of places to explore and secrets to discover. It’s not open-world, but you will meet various NPCs that provide side quests and tame mounts to make traveling easier.

Rambler’s Reach, the main town on Koboh, is also interesting since it evolves. You can recruit different characters who will expand the town, and it’s a good idea to return often to see what’s changed.

Three of the five Lightsaber Stances were available to try, and they each have skill trees to upgrade. New Force Powers like Force Confusion, which temporarily turns a hostile creature to your side, also look great. It’s also fun to see how the Dual Wield Stance plays, especially against larger foes like the Rancor.

Along with Jedi Chambers, Cal can also discover Force Tears. These transport him to a different location and offer platforming challenges. One such area has an approaching laser wall that changes sides every time you jump, so timing is key. Completing these grants Skill Points, but you may have to go out of your way to find them.

Finally, we get a better look at the cosmetics for BD-1 and Cal. The former can equip different heads and frames, while the latter has an assortment of outfits, facial hair, hairstyles and more to unlock. The customization is greatly expanded over the original and looks good.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is out on April 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
