Starfield’s Standard Edition Might Come with a Disc After All

Bethsda has deleted its recent tweet about the lack of discs in the game's physical editions, while a recent tweet by the company's Spanish account says a disc will be included in the Standard Edition.

Though digital media continues to expand its presence in the games industry (as it does elsewhere), there’s still no shortage of people who prefer to purchase physical editions of their games- though there have been more than a few who have taken up some questionable practices on that front in recent years.

For instance, Bethesda recently confirmed in a tweet that all physical editions of its upcoming space-faring RPG Starfield will only include download codes for the game rather than actual discs, which, unsurprisingly, sparked its fair share of controversy. Interestingly, however, that may not be the case after all.

Not only has Bethesda deleted the recent tweet that stated that Starfield wouldn’t include a disc in any of its physical editions, a recent tweet by the publisher’s official Spanish Twitter page seems to have provided information to the contrary.

According to said tweet – which was published less than two weeks ago, on June 13 – whether or not you get a Starfield disc will depend on which edition of the game you’re getting- while the Constellation Edition will only include a download code engraved on the collector’s item included in the package, as per Bethesda Espanol, Starfield’s Standard Edition will indeed include a physical disc.

All of which is to say that there’s certainly some conflicting information out there right now about what the status of the game’s physical release is going to be, though hopefully, it won’t be too long before we get official, concrete word from Bethesda.

Starfield is due out on September 6 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
