Until Dawn Has Been Censored in Japan

Spoilers inside, so watch out.

Until Dawn PS4 4

A very stark scene from the PlayStation 4 exclusive horror game, Until Dawn, has found itself censored in Japan. Do not read any further if you plan on playing through Until Dawn multiple times- owing to the ‘choose your own adventure’ nature of the game, it is entirely possible that the scene in question will never even show up in your playthrough, but if you would rather be safe than sorry, click that Back button on your browser now.

The scene in question is one of the many death scenes that occur throughout Until Dawn. In this specific case, Josh, who finds himself sawed to death via an electronic circular saw, seems to be substantially changed in the Japanese release. While you can still hear everything, the video feed cuts to black, until after the death.

It’s a bit bizarre, especially considering Japan is usually more lax about censorship than the west, but there you have it. I guess Until Dawn’s near photorealism had something to do with it.
