As rumored, Supermassive Games’ Until Dawn is getting the remaster treatment, launching later this year for PS5 and PC. Developed on Unreal Engine 5 by Ballistic Moon, it offers improved animations and upgrades to the environments, characters, visual effects and more. Check out the first trailer below.
In a new PlayStation Blog post, creative director Neil McEwan reveals that the team uses “a broader cinematic tonal colour palette and new perspectives to make the story more nuanced and emotional.” There’s also a third-person camera, new locations and interactions, and even new collectibles to discover.
Contextual character movement animations have also been added, and the sound has received a “massive overhaul.” Composer Mark Korven of Cube, The Lighthouse, The Witch and more is also composing a new score. There will be more details later this year, and even some updates on the film adaptation, directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Gary Dauberman.
Until Dawn is available for PS4. The cult classic horror title launched in 2015 for the console and sold 3.9 million units as of February 2022.
